There are plenty of nits to be picked about The Dark Knight Rises, but the one I have heard the most is ridiculous: How did a penniless Bruce make his way back to Gotham?

Simple. He did it with one phone call. He is an internationally famous billionaire playboy. He staggers into the first hotel he comes to. The desk clerk recognizes him, of course. He asks to use the phone.

"Prince Ali? It's Bruce. Ha ha, yes, that was a great party. Listen, I'm in a bit of a bind..."

Gordon is a pretty bright guy (hell, he went from beat cop to Commissioner in 2 movies. ) I can't imagine that he had to deal with many billionaires getting murdered and having to console their son.

I was a late viewer of this movie (I hate crowds) so I just saw this last night. I was really excited that I had avoided most of the spoilers - thank you internets! And I really enjoyed the film, and thought it was a perfect ending to an excellent trilogy.

I've heard a lot of the nit-picky complaints by now... and to be honest, I've been kind of dismissive of them.
* The voices were fine and did not distract me.
* I have no doubt that even a broke Bruce Wayne knows people who can provide him with clothing and travel options.
* I don't think Selina Kyle was jokey. Instead she offered a very layered portrayal. Her offhand flippancy seemed practiced (as was pointed out by Graham, it felt like an acquired defense mechanism), but she showed cracks in it from time to time when her emotions overwhelmed the facade.

So...that brings me to my big problem. Disclaimer 1 - I see everything from a political perspective. It's a flaw, I know. Disclaimer 2 - I am not superfamiliar with the Batman comics. Ok, that aside, here's my problem...

I have trouble accepting that a group of people would, in the absence of standard authority figures like a mayor or police, would go around stringing up rich people and acting in the manner portrayed by the movie. I couldn't help but feel that this was a commentary on the Occupy movement, and it felt like "rich Hollywood" (please read sarcasm in that label - I know it is not a monolith) was saying 'this is what it would look like if we let the rabble run the show! Now put your heads down, and spend some more money at the concession stand, and disregard the political realm.'

Maybe the comics had protrayed a situation similar to this, and my criticism is unfair. I'm sure that is me reading too much into it, but it was the one thing that made my viewing experience really uncomfortable.
