I saw Moonrise Kingdom last week. It's about a boy and girl who fall in love and through a pen-pal relationship plan an escape from their current situations. There are unique characters along the way. Long continuous shots. Too cute costumes. Characters with descriptions as Names.
I don't know how I feel about it. I am more positive about it than neutral. I think. It's very Wes Anderson-y. It's a bit stale, even when it's done well. I don't want to fault him because what he makes is amazing, but I would be very interested if he made a different type of movie. The story is fairly simple and went along and ended nice and easy. I wasn't too interested in the child leads and wished there was more of the adults, especially Francis McDormand. My main take is that this was a story written my Max Fischer sometime after the events of Rushmore. And that's how the movie feels. What did you all think? |
