Past movies:
-Sheitan by Ava -Just Another Love Story by Jesse Someone will have to confirm if this is on Netflix or Hulu, for me, as I'm in australia. If it is not i'll gladly pick another. My choice for this week is Charade (1963), directed by Stanley Donen and starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Hope you all like it. |

I'm in the US, I didn't see it on Netflix but found it on Hulu: www.hulu.com/watch/94303/charade
Looking forward to watching it! |

Great choice. That is a film I've always meant to watch but I would always get distracted. It used to be on Netflix. Just for future info, do you guys subscribe to Hulu plus as well? There are great Criterion movies available on that service.

I hadn't heard much about Hulu until recently, I've pretty much just stuck with Netflix. They seem to have a lot of content up though, the Criterions especially are really tempting.
Charade just loaded up for me without a payed account, I think it's ad-supported or something. It gave me a message about my adblocker, but I just let it play a couple minutes and the movie starts. |

What a great recommendation, I really liked this movie. It's a title that I've completely overlooked, and it reminds me that I need to see more movies from the 1960s.
I'm maybe a few years late on this observation but Audrey Hepburn, wow, she was a real movie star. There's some over the top mugging in a few scenes but she just has such a great screen presence here that all is forgiven. Despite the movie being almost 50 years old, the twists still felt well done and surprising. You start to question everyone's motives as the plot unfolds. Seeing this movie also makes me want to seek out more films with Walter Matthau. He and Cary Grant play their characters with this great tone of understated humor. There's a scene I loved where Walter Matthau is talking to Audrey Hepburn on the phone, and as he's talking, the camera tracks him up and down as he exercises by doing a set of squats. The reason for this seems to be nothing more than it's very funny, and it so completely fits the tone of his character. |

Well the week-end's over.
So if your still into the film club, Jesse, you can pick the next one. I've always loved the dialogue in Charade. "- You should your face right now, - What? Why? - 'Cause it's lovely" Rarely does it ever get better than that. |
