Glad everyone liked it! It had been a while since I watched it so I was hoping it was as I'd remembered it. The cover art can kill interest in a movie so fast for me too, I've almost passed on other good movies because of bad cover art. I think that and the ironic title tends to make this movie easy to get lost in the mix.

I don't know a lot about the noir genre either but I've seen this movie praised in different reviews as a great example of neo-noir. Ebert really liked it too.

Netflix was how I found out about this one actually, it popped up as a recommendation. Recommendations on Netflix have always been very hit or miss for me, but occasionally I'll get lucky, as with this one.

That car crash scene really is beautifully filmed, both the slow-motion shot on her and then later, the shot from Jonas and his family's point of view are both breathtaking in a different way.

Nice catch on the same actor who played Harriet Vanger, I completely missed that!

I pick Joel for the next selection.

This is a movie to be re-seen, for sure. For there is alot in it that can be easily overlooked. For example i noticed when things go downhill characters wear black and wear white when things go uphill.
Also wow, this is great. I completely missed that as well, I'm going to have to watch it yet again.

Oh and one last thing, when they're in the morgue and one of them is talking about where love is in the brain.

was all that guy said true?

I'm not the most knowledgeable about this, but I think he was pointing at the general area of the limbic system, which is an area containing parts of the brain that are known to control emotions, among many other functions. He says it's the area where "pleasure meets association", which I don't know nearly enough about to expound on.

What he said definitely sounded informed though! I think it's maybe more complicated than that; as he also mentions, there would be no way to remove the part of our brain that gets us into trouble in relationships without doing damage to other vital functions, due to those systems being so interconnected. But I loved that scene, it showed the level of detachment and cynical humor that someone in that profession would need to build up to do their job without going crazy.
